Institutionalising political bribery

The Palapye by-election has thrust upon us the reality of how the BDP spearheads the decaying of political morality.

In this article I confine myself to the two recently televised incidents where the controversial BDP candidate in the Palapye by-election doled out gifts to the football community and then the ailing at the hospital.

After winning the primaries, the BDP candidate became a conduit through which his party channels political bribes to the unsuspecting voters. The motive of these bribes is clear, to buy votes. In the process, the BDP does what has become its trademark; advance its parochial interests. State machinery i.e. television and radio are abused in the process. The BDP candidate suddenly is projected as a philanthropist doling out gifts. This is an insult to the voters and should be condemned with the strongest possible words and deeds. There are more questions than answers that prop up from this stage managed, corrupted benevolence.
