In defence of honourable J D Nkate

Recently there has been a barrage of disparaging articles on the person of Honourable Jacob Nkate, the BDP Secretary General and by extension the Minister of Education and Skills Development by Botswana Congress Party (BCP) and its cronies. It has seemingly become fashionable to call for the "Suspension", "Sacking", "Resignation" or "Firing" of Honourable Nkate.

The reasons for such, a move are politically motivated, under false pretext that going for his head will present the rather over-ambitious BCP with a Prized trophy and consequently land BDP a crippling blow. The BCP should be forewarned that such cheap political gimmick and posturing has long been uncovered.

The BCP should be unmasked as a party intent on peddling lies as a strategy to win elections. The BCP's elections strategy is to vilify both Honourable Nkate and His Exellency the President, forgetting that Batswana are more concerned about bread and butter issues, for which they (BCP) do not have counter alternatives. In their attempt to vilify the President they have turned their political guns against all army officers both retired and serving. They want the nation to join them in declaring that these professional and patriotic sons and daughters of the soil have no role to play in our society.According to the BCP, former officers must not be allowed to do the following:
lJoin political parties and run for elections like all ordinary citizens for fear of militarising our party politics.
