Go and vote - BMWU

Rumour circulating across the country has it that Botswana Mine Workers Union (Union) leadership is encouraging its members to boycott the oncoming national general elections. Initially, we decided not to say anything about these baseless speculations.

In our view, it is important to continue to urge all our registered members to vote in total during the election. However, the more the rumour spread the more it disturbed many of our members who felt that if this falsehood is not denied it may be taken to true.

Before the message could settle, Dr Emmanuel Botlhale of the University of Botswana commented that we should not disenfranchise ourselves and that we should be of our democracy. At point it became clear that the unfounded rumour was growing tentacles deeper into our society.
