Give us the facts Dr Ramsay

The natives who populate the media have been too glad to parrot the gospel as preached to them by the government's chief of propaganda, Dr. Jeff Ramsay.

Since the death of Bakgatla's paramount chief Linchwe II last week, Ramsay and his disciples in the media have been telling us that as a young man, Linchwe went to the UK for "further studies". The last time I checked, there was no academic programme called "further studies".

The whole suspense reminds one that another hereditary leader, Makhosetive a.k.a King Mswati, also went for "further studies" in the UK. Now in Swaziland, mention of the Ngwenyama's precise educational qualifications (or lack thereof) is treason. But in our free and open Botswana, no state -sanctioned ill can befall anyone for discussing our leaders' classroom achievements. Now please tell us what Linchwe studied in the UK. We are more curious because Ramsay mentions him in the same line as Festus Mogae (economics), David Magang (law) and Louis Nchindo (economics), whose areas of study have never been a mystery.
