Foreign affairs budget

We wish to refer to your news article entitled "Botswana looks for more friends" [Mmegi, March 14, 2007, pp1 and 2] and kindly request you to note the following;

1. The Mmegi report incorrectly reflects the Ministry's budget as P51.6 million. The Ministry's request was as follows;
a. Recurrent Budget Estimates = P219, 060, 670 (Two hundred and nineteen million, sixty thousand and six hundred and seventy Pula)
b. Development Budget Estimates = P51, 600,
000 (Fifty one million, six hundred thousand Pula)
2. The Mmegi report that "Other Batswana left for UN Recruitment Examinations at the end of last month" is incorrect as the Examination was conducted in Botswana.
The Ministry in collaboration with the UNDP organised a tutorial to prepare fifty-seven (57) young citizens to sit for UN Recruitment Examinations on February 27, 2007 in Gaborone.
