For Children's sake, close schools in winter

Weather forecasts show that winter 2009 is going to be quite a bear. We have had over the last few days, a taste of what is to come.

As Africa and Batswana commemorate the Day of the African Child we need to asked ourselves if we - individually and collectively can stand up proudly and declare that we have been good to the Child. I would not want to delve into more criminal aspects of what people do to children as people do those things secretly - in some closed office, classroom, or bedroom or under the cover of darkness. Rather I will focus on the more obvious violations of the Child's rights.

Indeed some will argue that my argument lacks merit as the issues I raise have more to do with poverty, which I know they will argue is not a human right violation. I nonetheless wish to make my little voice heard, and hope others will join me to sing this chorus until someone hears.
