Do not be a victim of unfounded fears

If there is a columnist whose thought-inspiring articles cannot fail to motivate a discerning reader to react to some of the issues he raises in his articles, it is Sandy Grant.

Whether one agrees with him or not, his column 'Etcetera" provides real food for thought. What surprises me is that hardly any of our politicians (not necessarily MPs) ever care to take him head on regarding such issues, some of them quite controversial. This only lends support to the low esteem people like Lediretse Molake seem to have about our Members of Parliament and our politicians generally.

In Monitor (07 - 04 - 2008), Sandy Grant is quoted as saying: "I did my best to set out the kind of questions that needed to be asked about it (The Security and Intelligence Bill) when it was first presented as a Bill, not least those relating to costs. Seemingly, they were largely ignored by those in Parliament. As far as I am concerned, it is incumbent upon individual members of Domkrag to come out in support of the Party on any matter on which the Party takes a particular position and there are many such members of Domkrag. As the Secretary General rightly said in the Special Congress held recently at Boipuso Hall "those talented with the pen" could do so. If you do, however, some papers could come down like a ton of bricks on you, but that's no reason to fear.
