Christmas and New Year message

The Botswana National Front Youth League leadership wishes to join all citizens of Botswana in celebrating Christmas and New Year with a brief message.

As we come to the end of the year 2007 and begin the year 2008, it is usually important to look back at our successes, failures, joys and regrets. The BNFYL believes that in the past year (2007) the neo-colonial BDP failed Batswana basically the youth in many different ways more importantly, youth empowerment. Since independence, thousands including youth are still unemployed, they roam the streets; the youth are poverty-stricken, due to the ruthless policies of the ruling BDP Government. The BNFYL and the BNF in general has shown tremendous growth. We have managed to create a very stable, results-orientated, strong, united, vibrant and cohesive youth league, and as such we take this opportunity to thank all those people that made or helped in any way to achieve what we have in this year.

In a nutshell, this is the time of the year when people make New Year resolutions, it is the time of the year when families and friends get together in a positive atmosphere, and it's the right time for Batswana to consider the idea of changing the current government with the BNF. It is vital for those who are privileged to remember the less privileged in the society; let's help those who are in need. The enjoyment of the festive season should not make us do things that we will regret, Batswana please guard against the killer disease, AIDS, its an enemy to all irrespective of which party you belong to, let's stand and fight this disease together. We the youth should be very cautious and it is an obligation to restrain ourselves from getting the dreaded disease.
