Bosetu replies examination board on markers

Botswana Secondary School Teachers Union (BOSETU) takes strong exception to remarks raised by Botswana Examination Council (B.E.C) in the Mmegi publication of 6 August 2008.

The remarks are an insult to the teachers and the teaching profession in general. It is evident that B.E.C treats teachers as cheap labourers who can be pulled by the ear individually and brought into a marking centre whenever B.E.C feels so. BOSETU is still committed to negotiations as they are the best remedy to disputes in labour relations. It is our considered opinion that consultations, which B.E.C seems to be so passionate about, cannot resolve labour disputes.
