BNF abhors the 'ZANUFICATION' of state media

On Friday August 21, the whole nation was shocked and in a state of disbelief to hear the Director of Broadcasting Services, Mr Mogomotsi Kaboyamodimo reading what was referred to over Radio Botswana as circumstances that led to the suspension of Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) Secretary General, Mr Gomolemo Motswaledi by the Party leader, His Excellency Seretse Khama Ian Khama. As if that was not enough, Mr Kaboyamodimo was back on air in the evening, but this time on a different government medium, Btv.

This was shocking in a number of ways. First Mr Kaboyamodimo is a civil servant and is not permitted by the Public Service Act to speak on behalf of any political party.

Secondly the platform that was used has a full potential of influencing certain perceptions and in this case it was used to push the agenda and attract sympathy for a faction within a political party.
