BIA Cargo 'only a concept'

Following a number of media reports, I wish to set the record straight regarding my involvement in BIA Cargo. BIA Cargo is a business concept initiated from South Africa, which some believe may one day fill a market niche for heavy freighter cargo for Africa, looking at connecting with intercontinental destinations. It has never operated and it has no assets or operation lined up.

I was approached to consider the opportunity at a time when I had expected that the privatisation of Air Botswana might leave me looking for new employment. The idea has not, however, moved beyond the concept stage and seems unlikely to do so as it would require many millions of Pula to acquire the necessary assets, establish logistics, and so on. I am not a director of this entity; I have no executive functions and, most importantly, there is no operation up and running.
Although it is possible that there may in time be place for an organisation of this nature, I have no idea if this will ever happen.
This matter has no relationship to my job at Air Botswana whatsoever, and so any conflicts of interest do not arise.
