BAU response on SADC protocol on trade

In response to the Friday Mmegi article, which contained certain inaccuracies, the following is the proposal which the Botswana Agriculture Union has made to its stakeholders.

1.  Agricultural products not eligible for preferential treatment
Annex 1, Section 5 provides that agricultural products shall not be eligible for any preferential treatment under the SADC Protocol on Trade,

2.  Non-Tariff Karriers to trade (NTB) must be eliminated
Article 6 provides that Member States shall adopt policies and implement measures to eliminate all existing forms of NTBs and shall refrain from imposing any new NTBs.
