BALA Happy With Elections

The Botswana Association of Local Authorities (BALA) deployed a local observer mission for October 16 general elections. It was for the first time in history that BALA participated actively in the general elections.

The purpose of the observer mission was partly to assist in appreciating the challenges of the existing processes that usher Councillors into office. Also to contribute towards ensuring that credible elections are held in compliance with democratic principles as stipulated by the Botswana National Observer Manual and other international instruments.

This has been an eye-opener for the association as the mission brought to the surface issues for consideration when advocating for electoral reforms.
