Abuse of state media by the BDP is uncalled for

That democracy is under threat in this country is not in question. The perpetrators of this evil appear determined to curtail it with unrelenting vigor.

Though it has always been clear that the ruling Botswana Democratic Party(BDP) has a tendency to abuse state resources for its advantage against its political opponents, recent developments have all the hallmarks of a country now degenerating into a dictatorship and we all have to be worried. I once pointed out in the past that the people of Africa are groaning very deeply because they are reeling under a curse of being ruled by dictators. I also did point out that Batswana were still lucky for not having had a dictator ruling them, however there are disturbing signs which call us to tread with due caution as we head to the elections this year. It is not business as usual anymore.

Things have changed. I did point out that the enacting of the Media Practitioners Act, the introduction of the Directorate of Intelligence Services (DIS) and the disturbing influx of military men into the civil service are indications that we might be slipping slowly but surely into a dictatorship.
