Abolish the death penalty

We all acknowledge that to murder another person is wrong and those that perpetrate the crime should be punished. However, they should not be killed. The death penality is not the answer. Murder is wrong but the death penality does not make that wrong, right. It is ethically, morally, and even economically wrong. Death penality should be abolished since it is too quick and does not allow for the serious reflection on the life taken from this world.
In certain occasions innocent people can be convicted and then sentenced to death which therefore defeats the whole purpose of the punishment. It is inhuman and degrading punishment which ought not to be administered in this civilised Botswana.
It underscores the indispensable role women play in our society, particularly in building strong households and nurturing families.
