A Clean Town With Hungry And Unemployed People

The recent raiding of street vendors in Gaborone is not only a seemingly heartless act, but a sign of some certain degree of misinformed individual actions. The high level of ignorance displayed by such misdeeds is tantamount to the cataclysmic Zimbabwean Land Reforms where tools of daily subsistence were injured and or halted.

Whilst we acknowledge endeavors by the Government and the Gaborone City Council to regulate businesses as small as street vendors, we have to come to acceptance that such achievements will not be realised overnight.

The decision reached by the city council is not only a sign of despising the informal traders and small businesses, but also an unfortunate display of dwarfed economic outlook. Street vendors rely on their businesses for daily subsistence, a common sense that needs no academic stimulus.
