The struggle betrayed - Part 1

This afternoon Monday 13th June, the Botswana Police descended upon the striking civil servants with the greatest of might.

They were yielding batons and holding tear-gas guns. They positioned their water cannons and armoured vehicles.

The Botswana Police Service helicopter hovered above. The police proceeded to read the riot act, a presidential proclamation declaring the workers' gathering at G.S.S. grounds illegal. The striking civil servants were ordered to disperse. In the melee Cdes Mbisi and Karata (the BLLHWU leadership in Gaborone) and many others were arrested. We are told that (Johnson) Motshwarakgole and his ilk instructed the police to disperse the striking workers. The BOFEPUSU leadership has betrayed the struggle!
