Sanitary pads campaign - BNF responds

We would like to correct the article which appeared in yesterday's issue entitled,'BNF's free sanitary pads drive stalls'. There are a number of inaccuracies and innuendos, which if left uncorrected could send a wrong message.

I received a call from your reporter Mr Chakalisa Dube enquiring if the launch of the project took place. I in response indicated that the launch has been postponed and that the regions will in the meantime be given sanitary pads, which they will then give out to the deserving individuals in their respective regions.

I also indicated that I was not in a position to answer some of his questions as I still had to consult with the Women's League and the Secretary for Health as they are collaborating with the Publicity Secretariat in this activity. It is on the basis of this consultation that I still had to undertake, that I asked your reporter to call me back on Monday. This was borne out of  my having been on a BNF tour of duty in Mozambique where I had gone to represent the party at the FRELIMO Congress. Therefore the following quotation that is attributed to me does not reflect what I said.' I also embarked on a personal trip to Mozambique so this meant that we did not have enough time to meet discuss terms of the launch. That is why the launch did not take off on the proposed date.
