MOH defends its employees

The Ministry of Health does not wish to make it a habit to respond to every opinion expressed in the media.

However, now and then, some statements made in the media have the potential to mislead and reverse our noble national health agenda initiatives, therefore endangering public health. One such article is the recent Mmegi editorial of May 14 2013 on page 8. The author cites recent unfortunate incidents at some government health facilities and presents these as a basis for condemning the entire healthcare system which, he concludes, is on the verge of total collapse.

The author also takes a swipe at government health caregivers and condemns them as a cruel and insensitive group that has discarded all professional ethos and morals and seems to derive pleasure in subjecting patients to all sorts of indignities.
