LOST VALUES AND THE WUC

In the good old days, those with great wealth - notably cattle, which were kept out of sight at some far distant place - could be identified only by the really shabby clothing they wore.  The trick, of course, was to give the impression of near-poverty and then there was little danger of people coming around wanting loans and help with school fees.  Times have changed and now many people openly flaunt their wealth or have it flaunted for them. 

The world's top sportspeople, for instance, the golfers, footballers, tennis players and athletes have their substantial earnings regularly reported in the world's press.  The probably inevitable result of these disclosures was that Amantle Montsho should have had her handbag snatched from her in a crowded Gaborone Main Mall.
