It is a common truism that a nation that does not know where it comes from is one unlikely to know where it is heading. The first president of Botswana, Sir Seretse Khama, also said: "a nation without a past is a lost nation, and a people without a past is a people without a soul". Do we know where we come? Have we sought to find out and embrace our real roots - not just what we have been told thus far?
In my first article I traced early, forced Sotho-Tswana migration from ancient Egypt (Khmer-Roggo) through Cameroun (Khmer-Roon) and most likely through the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to where we now are.
It has only been a month since the newly elected government, the Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC), took power, and there are already a lot of changes.
