Mandela and Limkokwing - A time-honoured friendship

Barely four months before his passing, on August 27, 2013, Nelson Mandela was presented with the ‘Lifetime Campaigner for Peace and Freedom’ Award by the Mahathir Foundation for Global Peace, an initiative driven by Tan Sri Lim.

The award was inspired by the courage and relentless pursuit of peace by former Malaysian Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir. The award was accepted on Nelson Mandela’s behalf by the current president of South Africa, HE Jacob Zuma.

At the award ceremony held in Putrajaya, Tan Sri paid tribute to Nelson Mandela as the first recipient of the Mahathir Award for Global Peace. “We celebrate the manner in which he has achieved the impossible and there can be no greater inspiration for people than this.”
