Mahalapye, A "Sorry Sight!"

Mahalapye is a strange place. The attachment to this "sorry" village is so intense that whether you are a visitor or you were born in Mahalapye you tend to gravitate towards it! In thoughts! Sometimes sub-consciously! I was born in Mahalapye and the attachment is as intense as 30 years ago, 15 years ago and so forth.

I was reminded of how special this village is by “a football fan” who wrote about the village recently! The distressing thing about this village is that it has stagnated in terms of development. When I was at Madiba Secondary School, some decades ago, I was a ferocious reader of anything Shakespearean! I devoured a lot of Shakespeare! When thinking about Mahalapye, what comes to mind is Shakespeare’s classic, Hamlet.
