PRESS STATEMENT:His Excellency the President, Dr Mokgweetsi E.K. Masisi, paid a one-day visit to Angola, on 28th December 2023, at the invitation of His Excellency Mr. João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço, President of the Republic of Angola and Chairperson of the Southern African Development Community (SADC).

The purpose of the visit was to meet and brief President Lourenço on the Government of Botswana’s position on the self-imposed exile of Former President Lt. Gen. Khama and some members of his family.

The two Presidents also discussed other critical bilateral issues including the security situation in the region which may derail regional integration efforts and the attainment of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the sub-region.
