Zim man with fake Omang appears in court

FRANCISTOWN: A Zimbabwean man facing charges of obtaining national registration or Omang card by false pretences insists he was influenced to do so by his paternal relatives as his father is a Motswana native.

Mandla Ketlhokile had stated during his bail application that the relatives advised that he make a Botswana national passport and national identity card (Omang) since his father is a Motswana.

"My father's relatives are the ones who insisted that I get Botswana registration cards since my father originates from Dagwi, a settlement in the north east of Botswana," he asserted. "Though my mother is a Zimbabwean native they strongly believed that I should use my father's nationality, I was born here in Botswana," added Ketlhokile.
