Zim maintains cordial relations with Botswana - minister

HARARE: Zimbabwe has said its relations with Botswana remain cordial despite recent media reports that some MPs have called for the closure of Botswana's embassy. The reports say Gaborone has tightened its immigration controls to target Zimbabweans.

Kembo Mohadi, Zimbabwe's Home Affairs Minister said yesterday that the Botswana government has not notified Zimbabwe of its plan to tighten its border controls or close its embassy in Harare.

Mohadi insisted that there is no political tension in Zimbabwe. "The political situation here is very normal. It does not warrant any panic in any quarter," he said.
