Youthful slugfest in Gaborone Central

The withdrawal of the Botswana National Front (BNF) parliamentary candidate for Gaborone Central, Nelson Ramaotwana, has robbed the constituency of what was going to be a three-way youthful contest.

Had he not withdrawn from the race, Ramaotwana was going to contest against two other youthful candidates namely Gomolemo Motswaledi of the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) and the incumbent, Dumelang Saleshando of the Botswana Congress Party (BCP). The BNF has not yet identified a candidate to replace Ramaotwana.

In 2004, Saleshando defied the odds to grab the constituency from veteran MP, Margaret Nasha, and another challenger, Kathleen Letshabo of the BNF.
