FRANCISTOWN: More and more young people are showing interest in partisan politics. With the next general elections just 16 months away, indications are that political parties here have been receiving applications from their young members expressing interest in contesting the primaries and, if successful, the general elections.

Advocates of youth empowerment argue that without young people taking leadership positions in politics, the ideal would remain mere rhetoric. They say if the youth do not take part in politics, the decision-making process will remain skewed, imperiling the peace and stability of communities.
