Young killer gets two years for manslaughter

FRANCISTOWN: High Court Judge Mpaphi Phumaphi has sentenced a 19-year-old man to two years' imprisonment for stabbing another young man to death during a fight last year.

Rebaone Tshosa stabbed Onthusitse Kabelo and Kabelo Kabelo with a knife, after which Onthusitse Kabelo died from the injuries.  Judge Phumaphi convicted Tshosa of manslaughter and sentenced him to two years in jail. The judge said in sentencing Tshosa, he had considered the fact that Tshosa was a first offender and a young man.

"I have considered that he is a young first offender who resorted to using a knife while attacked by the deceased and his friend," said Phumaphi. He also stated that Tshosa is a young man who still has a much to do in life and therefore it would be critical if given a sentence that would destroy him forever.
