FRANCISTOWN: Water Utilities Corporation (WUC) in Francistown has warned residents living downstream Shashe and Ntimbale Dams of possible floods.

The corporation advised the public in the city and surrounding areas to be careful because recent rainfall has filled the dams beyond capacity. Ever since the beginning of last week there has been non-stop heavy rainfall in the North East resulting in Shashe and Tati Rivers causing the dams to overflow.

The rains are said to have averaged 16 to 18 millimeters per day thus causing the dams to overflow. Speaking with Francistown-based WUC Public Relations Officer Lorato Phuthe, she cautioned the public to be weary of the fact that the two dams may spill over, posing public danger.
