Member of Parliament (MP) for Mmadinare Kefentse Mzwinila says government should introspect on whether it was wise to hand over all water operations to Water Utilities Corporation (WUC).

Responding to a budget proposal for the Ministry of Presidential Affairs and Public Administration (MoPAPA), Mzwinila said despite its proximity to the country’s third largest dam, Mmadinare village is not spared from thirst and pipes go for several days without water.

“This then means that backyard gardens around the area are not going to survive. We need to rethink our move from Department of Water Affairs to Water Utilities, because the latter is more concerned with profit than service to the people,” Mzwinila said.
