Women In Court For Threats To Kill Husband

FRANCISTOWN: Investigations are still continuing in a case in which a 33-year-old woman has been charged with threats to kill her soldier husband. Doreen Kagiso failed to gain her freedom when Magistrate Thato Mujaji declined her bail application after objection by state counsel Isaac Bojang.

Kagiso is said to have uttered the words: "I will cut your throat in pieces, I will poison your food and I will pour petrol on the house and set the house ablaze," to her husband Obed Kagiso. She told the court that she said those words because she was angry. "I was very angry and I did not mean them. I have young children and I was also very drunk," she said. She added that she lied when she told the police that her husband said he was going to shoot and kill her. "I also apologised to the complainant," she said.

The prosecutor Bojang said that they object to the accused getting bail at this point as the offence is very serious. "We are taking evidence to the Director of Public Prosecutions for assessment," he said. He added that he objected to the bail application because investigations are still going on.
