Woman survives mauling by dogs

FRANCISTOWN: A resident of Somerset Extension was nearly savaged to pieces by two dogs on Tuesday night. The two dogs which stay in the same yard as the woman apparently went berserk when the woman left the house in her towel and attacked her.

When a Mmegi team arrived at the scene around 11pm the two bull terriers were menacingly barking at the crowd that had gathered by the gate. Neighbours complained that they feared for safety of their children, as they did not know where the dogs had come from. One if the concerned neighbours related the incident.  "The woman walked out of the house wrapped in her towel when the dogs attacked her, pulled off the towel and dragged her but when the people who were around intervened the dogs left her and she dashed back into the house," he said. He further said that a neighbour called the police because the dogs were dangerous and could attack other people who ventured outside their homes.

The witness said that the dogs have only been there for a week and are not yet used to the woman. The dogs are only used to the old man who stays in the house but who was not present at the time.
