Woman in court for burning man

FRANCISTOWN: A Tonota woman appeared at the magistrate court on Thursday to face a single count of pouring boiling water on a man.

Monica Nwake, 45 is charged with causing grievous bodily harm to Mothusi Mojuta by pouring boiling on him at Tonota on April 27, 2013. The water allegedly burned Mojuta's face, neck and stomach. The prosecutor, Paul Chaluza applied for the accused to be remanded because the complainant is in a critical state at Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital.

The investigating officer, Constable Thabo Motswasele told Magistrate Mpho Molema that he visited Mojuta at the hospital on May 1 and found him in a critical state.Motswasele said Mojuta is not able to talk, has difficulties in breathing and is struggling for his life at the hospital.He said Mojuta's condition might change at any time, which may necessitate the need for the amendment of the charge sheet.
