Woman, 21, raped at knife point

A 21-year-old woman working as a house helper at Oodi in the Kgatleng District was attacked and raped by an unknown man after leaving home to buy airtime on Saturday night.

The unknown suspect, who was hiding behind a face mask, is said to have pounced on the victim from behind and dragged her to a nearby bush where he raped her. Broadhurst Police Station commander, Superintendent Obusitswe Lokae said the rape incident was reported at around 21:15hrs.

“Narrating what transpired, the victim stated that prior to being raped, the suspect who is still at large, threatened to stab her with a knife instructing her not to scream," he said. “Afterwards, the perpetrator fled the crime scene." Meanwhile, police investigations are ongoing to locate the suspect.
