Batswana are waiting to see if the Household Income and Expenditure Survey next year will yield a clear picture regarding the state of wealth among Botswana.

Batswana have started taking keen interest in wanting to know how many millionaires, multi-millionaires or billionaires the Botswana economy has created in its 44 years of independence. The previous surveys have failed to satisfy that curiosity. In the 2006 report recently posted online, the Central Statistics Office says Botswana's rich are failing them by refusing to disclose their earnings and possessions as the office attempts to compile Botswana's incomes survey.
