Who will gather Mogae's presents?

President Festus Mogae is hardly a quarter way through his farewell tour and he has already received heaps of presents, including two horses in Mmadinare and in Mahalapye he got five herd of cattle, five goats and three sheep, in addition to household items.

It is reported that in Ghanzi the Farmers Association gave him up to 50 heifers and a bull. Patricia Maganu reports from Serowe that the President got 10 calves. The happiest moment came when Vice President Ian Khama and his younger brothers gave him a Brahman and three cows in addition to the other presents from members of the public. Staff at the president's office have no clue about how the presents would be collected. The Press Secretary to the President Dr Jeff Ramsay could not state how prepared they were to collect the presents since he is currently in London.

However, he confirmed that Mogae would address all main Kgotla. "It is possible that the schedule could have small alterations due to circumstance, but otherwise it has been circulated. The schedule is designed to ensure all corners of the country, including all Ntlo-ya-Dikgosi constituencies are covered. His Excellency will also be bidding farewell to people in other fora as well, as he did recently at the nurses association," Ramsay said through electronic mail from London.
