Who will be Vice-President and specially elected?

As the inauguration of President Ian Khama takes place at Parliament buildings this morning, and nominations of Specially Elected Members of Parliament (MPs) in the afternoon Mmegi staffer BAME PIET takes a peep into the past, acknowledges the present and attempts to predict who will take what position in the political hierarchy of the country

Lieutenant General Mompati Merafhe

He has been accused of failing to give advice to his boss where necessary.  Age is catching up with Merafhe and this might be his undoing. There is a strong likelihood that Khama will keep Merafhe as his vice at least for this term. Merafhe has covered for Khama on international engagements.   

Dr Ponatshego Kedikilwe
He has been referred to as one of the most brilliant Cabinet members to ever serve this country. There is need for balance of military and academic backgrounds. His appointment would also be a wise move to unite the party but age and his faction rules him out of the running.
