The World Health Organisation (WHO) has honoured former President, Festus Mogae for supporting its work in the Africa region and meeting its achievements in the humanitarian, primary health care and HIV&AIDS.

Mogae was also recognised for exceptional leadership and commitment in curbing HIV spread, stigma and discrimination and free national Anti-Retroviral treatment (ARV) roll-out to at least 90% of Batswana who were eligible to access treatment.

Mogae was honoured at the WHO 75th anniversary celebration.
