'We want to visit our president' - Chadibe residents

CHADIBE: Despondent residents of Chadibe village said they want an audience with President Ian Khama over a road they want bituminised as they feel it has been neglected for too long.

Residents lambasted their MP Fidelis Molao last week Friday at an emotionally charged Kgotla meeting. The road they were complaining about joins Chadibe with Borolong. The road has been tarred up to Tlhalogang Secondary School. They said their effort to appeal for the section of the road that leads into their village to be bituminised  has either fallen on deaf ears, or they have been told there is no money.Villagers said they now want to visit State House to inform the president himself because their representatives have failed them. Residents said most of the villages near Francistown have the necessary developments but with their village it seems that a mere tarring of a "nose-to-mouth" road cannot happen.

During the Kgotla meeting "fed-up" villagers could be heard murmuring among themselves how they had thought Molao, who grew up in neighbouring Mathangwane would be the best person to pass their complaints onto. One resident Lekwete Moleele said they have been complaining about the road to their village councillor Jabulani Vuke and even Molao several times."It appears as if you are not doing your job. You always say there is no money while some villages which were established after ours have better amenities and their infrastructure is more developed." He said, as Chadibe residents, they now want to speak with the president himself. "We are still discussing as village elders about our visit. All we are now asking you (Molao) is to escort us to the president so that we can pass our complaints to him," said Moleele.
