The ruling Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) has reacted with shock at African National Congress (ANC) official, Dumisane Sithole's disclosure that they are not friends with the BDP.

Though the two political organisations are ruling parties in their respective countries, they subscribe to different political ideologies, with the BDP leaning on capitalism and the ANC on socialism, he suggested.

BDP spokesman, Segaetsho Garekwe, said they did not expect the ANC to utter "such statements about us in the media. If they have an issue with us, we don't expect them to address us through the media, especially at an event held by our enemy (BNF).
