Voters' Roll Hiccups Mar BDP Primaries

Discrepancies on voters' rolls nearly spoilt the party for the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) primary elections held over the weekend.

In almost every constituency where there was voting, it was found that some names of registered members were left out, thereby denying them the right to vote.  In one case, a candidate found that his name was not on the voters' roll. 

A disgruntled council candidate from Ngami drove all the  way to Gaborone last week to raise the matter of the voters' roll with the chairman of the election committee, prominent Gaborone attorney, Parks Tafa.  However, the council candidate was told that it was too late to do anything.
