Veteran public servant calls it a day

SELEBI-PHIKWE: Veteran public servant Omponye Ditau has retired from the public service after 26 years of service.

In an interview with Mmegi over the weekend, Ditau told of how he started working for Selebi-Phikwe Town Council (SPTC) in 1978 as a labourer. He was later promoted to a spray man in 1985. On account of his diligent work, Ditau was promoted into group two scale, which according to him was a higher scale that was used to pay drivers.

When he was hired, he was stationed at the Anne Adams Park.  In 1986, he was elevated to the position of a team leader, as his supervisors were impressed with his conduct and work."I was then transferred from the nursery department to vegetation control in 2002 and worked there for a year. In 2005 we went to do landscaping at Boipelego Clinic in Serowe," he said.
