VDC members want term extended

Speaking during a kgotla meeting in Mmadinare last week, Assistant Minister of Local Government, Botlogile Tshireletso said that since her ministry started reviewing VDC guidelines, members have requested for an extension of their term.

"Most VDC members felt that the two-year term that is currently taken by committee members is short and does not give them enough time to implement their plans. They suggested that the term should be increased to three or five years. That will give them ample time to work for the village," she said.
