KASANE: Assistant Minister of Finance and Development Planning and Chobe Member of Parliament (MP) Duncan Mlazie says there is an urgent need to construct the proposed Kazungula Bridge to speed up traffic flow between Botswana and Zambia.

Mlazie said the project needs to be treated as special, as abnormal trucks have invaded Kasane because the pontoon at Kazungula often breaks down and cannot ferry the trucks and passengers across the Zambezi River fast enough.

He disclosed that presently there are about 300 trucks on a space of about 10km to 13km waiting to be transported across the border into Zambia. Mlazie said that the situation is critical, as it has now created problems for Chobe.
