Unicef director drops in

Half of the babies born with HIV will die before their second birthday, the visiting UNICEF Executive Director has said.

In her Last leg of a Three-country visit, Ann Veneman said this week that Botswana knows how to prevent mother to child transmission but it still has a long way to go.

Veneman who had just been China and neighbouring South Africa, said she was on a visit to Botswana because of it having one of the highest prevalence rates in the world. She said that the rates have come down to some extent. She said that prevalence in pregnant women has reduced.
