Uneasy freedom for Daisy Loo convicts

The five people convicted in the P21 million Daisy Loo fraud case got a reprieve yesterday when Regional Magistrate Barnabas Nyamadzabo postponed mitigation and sentencing.

The five - Frank Molaletsi, Gilbert Sithole, Joseph Stegling, Bitsang Abbey, Moemedi Dijeng and his company Daisy Loo - were convicted on three counts of fraud last month and were due to be sentenced yesterday.

However, Molaletsi and Stegling were acquitted and discharged on the count of conspiracy but found guilty of giving false information to the chairperson of the council tendering committee, Ezekiel Dube, who was the Deputy Mayor of Gaborone at the time.
