UN to curb AIDS spread

The United Nation has reconfirmed its commitment to continuously support the government of Botswana in its fight against HIV/AIDS.

Acting UN resident coordinator and World Health Organisation (WHO) representative, Dr Jean Kalilani said this before reading out the World AIDS Day message from UN Secretary General, Ban Ki Moon in Letlhakeng over the weekend.

She said it was clear in the mid-90s that the relentless spread of HIV and the resultant devastating impact on human lives and social economic development were creating an emergency that would need a greatly expanded UN's effort.
