UN, Kang host youth on Friday

Kang, in the Kgalagadi District, will host the United Nations Day on Friday. The theme for Botswana celebrations is 'Youth Empowerment for economic diversification and global partnership'.

UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative, Khin-Sandi Lwin, said at a press briefing on Monday that the theme was chosen by a joint team to link both national priorities as well as international commitments. 

She said the youth, aged 15 to 30 years old, account for 32 percent of the population with a six percent growth from 1990. The figure is projected to rise to 34 percent by 2015.
