UB students' blues far from over

University of Botswana (UB) students' registration, accommodation and allowance problems are far from over.

According to the Students Representative Council (SRC) Secretary General Molekane Mojaki, classes began this week but many students are still without accommodation and some still do not have sponsorship offer letters from the Ministry of Education and Skills Development and can as such not be allowed to register just yet. 

The Student Centre has been a hive of activity since the university re-opened as desperate scholars looking for accommodation queue up. Upstairs at the SRC offices, first year students also queue up to sign forms to access meals. Gaone Disang, the SRC Minister, told Mmegi that for the past week this area has had to be converted into makeshift accommodation for students coming from far away places like Francistown and Maun.
